2015

Based on the incredible true story of Mohammad Assaf, a young Palestinian from the Gaza Strip who won ‘Arab Idol’ song contest in 2013. After he won the program, euphoria broke out in the streets of Palestinian towns. Mohammad became a glimmer of hope, uniting the divided Palestinians. The film tells the story of a modest young wedding singer who helped his fellow Palestinians forget their internal conflicts and unsuccessful struggle for independance. (Festival information)

The film emphasizes the importance of simple values in daily life as family relations and friendship. The message of the film concerns the dignity of every human being, it brings hope and images of normal life in a world of desperation and ruins. Dreams of those children are worth living for and the power of their will and self-confidence can make unbelievable things happen. The songs of this successful young singer are also a metaphor of giving a voice to Palestinians.
