A mother conditioned by the culture of the country in which she was born, her depression, and her illness. A daughter, who takes care of her, but who does not want to follow in her footsteps, and who needs freedom, transgression. A connection that unfolds as feelings and years pass. The story, in words and images, at times flamboyant, at times inward-looking, submerges its audience in memories and carries it away on a wave of emotions. With a film that is both intimate and visionary, the filmmaker questions filiation and what it means to be a family, across three generations. “It’s a film about the meaning of a life”, says Dominique Margot. (Luciano Barisone, Visions du Réel)
