38th Nordic Film Days Luebeck

The jury awards the Church Film Prize to "Breaking the Waves" by Lars von Trier because he has succeeded in achieving an extraordinary intensity through the excellent acting performance of Emily Watson and the outstanding camera work of Robby Müller, which forces the viewer to experience the questions of faith, love and sacrifice in a deeply personal way and to deal with these themes anew.

The jury awards a Honorable Mention to "Den attende" by Anders Rønnow-Klarlund because he has managed, through a spontaneous and direct narrative form, not only to bring together different subject lines, but also the synchronicity of contemporary events; and thereby demonstrated the need to accept moral responsibility.
