Ein Tag im Mai

It is May 18, 1993, and the Danes are voting on whether or not to become a member of the European Union. And in Copenhagen, demonstrators and police engage in street battles. On this day, the lives of four people intersect: psychiatric patient Jens, seven-year-old Sarah, Sarah's mother Ulla and Michael, a super salesman who works in a paper company. Jens runs away from the psychiatric ward, steals a car and hits Sarah with it. Her mother Ulla is a talented singer. She is due to give a radio concert that evening, but receives a phone call in the middle of her performance. And EU supporter Michael has more or less run Ulla over in front of the voting booth and accidentally voted no in the general confusion.
