SB Rodríguez-Plate (b. 1966) is an author, speaker, editor and university lecturer whose books include: A History of Religion in 5½ Objects, Blasphemy: Art that Offends and Religion and Film: Cinema and the Re-Creation of the World. His essays have been published in Newsweek, Slate, The Los Angeles Review of Books, The Christian Century, The Islamic Monthly, and the Huffington Post, among others. He is a board member of the Interfaith Coalition of Greater Utica, NY, executive director of the Association for Religion and Intellectual Life, and editor of Cross-Currents magazine. He is an adjunct professor at Hamilton College, NY. Member of the INTERFILM Board since 2022.

Following the promising nominations, the Oscar ceremony felt like a disappointment. For the first time, the Academy had nominated international films such as “Sentimental Value” from Norway and “Secret Agent” from Brazil in the Best Picture category. Yet in the end, it was American productions that walked away with all the awards.
