Due to a tragic accident, 13-year-old Lucas is confined to a wheelchair. After a year of absence, he is allowed to return to school and bravely faces the challenges of everyday life. However, he usually feels uncomfortable and sub-challenged because, despite his disability, he wants to be treated as a full-fledged person. One day he gets to know Laís, and a close friendship develops between the children. They study and chat with each other. Cheerful Laís has problems too and often feels lost. She wants to find her father, but she knows neither his name nor his address. Everything Laís possesses of him is a torn photograph showing her mother Rita in front of her father’s old truck. When she finally receives the decisive hint from Mr César, a friend of the family, Laís’ mission seems to take a decisive turn.
