Data protection hints
When you use this website the system automatically captures information on your user behaviour and your interaction. We capture, store and use data on every access to our website exclusively for purposes of operation, security and optimization of our website. Below is an overview of the data capture technologies that we use.
Server log files
For every access to our website the web server automatically captures and stores the name and URL of the opened file/page, date and time of the download, the transmitted data volume, the message on the successful delivery of the page (HTTP response code), browser type and version, operating system, referrer URL (the website opened before), IP address and the requesting provider. These data are not attributed to individual persons and no profiles are created, and their storage is only for statistical evaluations to ensure operation, security and optimization. This information enables us to analyze data traffic, find and correct faults and to improve our services. Should concrete findings give rise to a justified suspicion of unlawful use we reserve the right to review the log data later.
Cookies
We use so-called cookies, small text elements, when you visit our websites. These cookies are stored on your computer. That enables us to adapt our websites to your interests.
If you do not wish us to recognize your computer (hard disk cookies) you can set your browser to delete cookies from your computer hard disk, to block all cookies or to warn you before a cookie is stored. However, with such settings we cannot guarantee that you can use all our services without restriction.
Newsletter
If you wish to subscribe to our newsletter you have to indicate your e-mail address to which we can send the newsletter. By providing your e-mail address you agree that we will use it for sending the newsletter.
Of course you have the possibility of unsubscribing from the newsletter at any time and to withdraw your consent for the future. To do so please click on the according button in the newsletter sent to you or on our website.
Registration for the ecumenical reception
When you register on our website for the ecumenical reception on the occasion of the Berlinale, we shall store your data until we process the enquiry, and for any potential follow-up questions. We shall not store or use any further personal data unless you give us your consent or unless it is legally allowed without any specific consent.
Piwik/Matomo
We use the open-source analysis tool Matomo (formerly: Piwik) as a self-hosted variant in order to gain a better understanding of user behaviour and interaction on our website. In doing so we employ high-level data protection by saving and evaluating your IP address in an anonymous format (the last two bytes are masked, i.e., the available IP address format is 198.168.xxx.xxx). In addition we respect the Do-not-track setting of your browser, i.e., if you have activated this setting in your browser we shall not save any data on your visit.
Legal basis and storage period
The legal basis of data processing acc. to the above clauses is Article 6 paragraph 1 f) GDPR. Our interests in data processing include especially ensuring the operation and security of our website, the analysis of the type of usage of the website by visitors, and the simplification of the use of the website. Unless specifically indicated otherwise we shall only store personal data as long as necessary for fulfilling the purposes.
