Woman at War
Gegen den Strom
Directed by
2018

She may be unremarkable looking, but forty-something Halla is a shrewd environmental activist, who aims to single-handedly prevent economic interests from destroying the Earth, or at least her little corner of it. She doesn’t shy from anything, not even sabotage, for her guerrilla activities. When she cuts off the electricity to the new aluminium factory and the project's investors threaten to jump ship, the government gets very nervous. But then in the middle of her fight, Halla gets very unexpected news. (Festival information, Nordic Film Days Luebeck 2018)

The INTERFILM jury awards its prize to a film that upgrades the creation order. The preservation of the environment and of the whole planet is made an intrusive and humorous as well as contentwise and formally convincing topic. In addition, the film asks what opportunities the individual has within the limits of democratic action or beyond.
