Founded in 1991 shortly after the German reunification, the festival focusses on films from Middle and Eastern Europe and the successor states of the former USSR. Since 1999, an Ecumenical Jury, appointed by INTERFILM and SIGNIS, attends the festival, and presents itself to the public at an ecumenical reception (photo: Jury member Claudia Schäfer with director Milos Pusic (left) and leading actor Branislav Trifunovic (Center) at the award ceremony).

Awards of the Ecumenical Jury
2013

The film takes us into the depth of a moral dilemma by reflecting upon rural exodus, generational conflict and broken relationships. In a provocative way it forces us to reconsider the 4th commandment: honour your parents. Metaphorically, the film depicts a destroyed paradise by way of persuasive characters, desperately in need of forgiveness.
