With a brilliant photography, a great cast and a fine sense of humour the directors tell us about the decreasing amount of inhabitants of a small Croatian island who are threatened with extinction and their committed struggle against it. As a pivotal element in this atmospherical tragicomedy, the card game - captioning the movie title as well - serves as a symbol for the need of everlasting hope.
Founded in 1952 in Mannheim as „Culture and Documentary Film Week“ and becoming the „International Film Wekk Mannheim in 1961, the International Film Festival Mannheim-Heidelberg got its current shape in 1994.
