Theresia Merz studied Protestant theology at the universities of Göttingen, Basel and Marburg. In1986 she completed her training for the ministry in Linz/Donau. Since 1985 she has been teaching religious education at upper secondary schools. She holds degrees in gestalt pedagogy and cultural education and is training teachers for pedagogy projects at places of remembrance. Frequently she participated in film seminars and lectures on film topics for teachers and filmanalysis for gifted pupils (ECHA - European Council for High Ability).

Articles

35 short films were on the varied programme of this year's children's and youth competition in Oberhausen and attempted to arouse the interest of young viewers with different themes, film techniques and genres. Theresia Merz presents the broad spectrum of films shown, categorised by age groups.

"Defiant" by director Visa Koiso-Kanttila wins the Prize of the Church Media Foundation in Finland at the International Chidren's and Youth Festival in Oulu 2025.
The Hof Film Festival is now in its 58th year and has become a hallmark of the city, which is why Hof likes to call itself the “Home of Films,” a phrase that is said to have originated with Wim Wenders. In the late 1960s and 1970s, the Munich film scene came to Hof (...). As a nostalgic reminder, this year there was a 35mm screening of Fassbinder's early work “Gods of the Plague”. Peter Paul Huth reports about the festival.
