The film presents the story of three individuals – a bodybuilder, a secretary and a funeral singer – who long for love, connection and intimacy, set in the city of Teheran. Director Ali Jaberansari perfectly captures the realness of everyday life, the humor in small moments and genuine emotions of disappointment and hope. The jury also awards the poetical film language, the mosaic structure, the minimalistic, suggestive acting, and also the universal, interreligious message.

The Iranian film "Tehran: City of Love" by Ali Jaberansari won the Prize of the Ecumenical Jury in Miskolc in 2019. The Emeric Pressburger Prize for Best Picture was awarded to the Latin American production "Monos" by Alejandro Landes, which was also awarded by the Federation of Arthouse Cinemas CICAE. The Adolph Zukor Award, the Grand Prix of the Festival, went to "The Lighthouse" by Robert Eggers, as well as the Prize of the jury of the International Film Critics Association FIPRESCI. The audience chose Nora Fingscheidts "Systemsprenger" as their best film.
