13-year-old Maria lives in the Colombian jungle. Like other young girls, she is both a child soldier and a sexual object for the guerrillas. In a nearby town, she has the responsibility of protecting the baby of the only person authorised to have children: the commander. (Festival information)
On a very well documented basis, the director confronts us in a breathtaking movie with the tragic destiny of the children who are forcibly enrolled in the Columbian guerilla. During a mission to shelter a newborn child, the young girl Maria decides to ensure a future to the child growing in her womb. Disobeying the war mechanics, she advocates life, solidarity, compassion.
