Prize of the INTERFILM Jury, Mannheim 1984

Everyone must take responsibility for peace. This important topic is addressed in the documentary film "Far from War", to which we are awarding our prize. The excellently researched film vividly shows the dependence of an idyllic small German town and its local arms industry. Filmmaker Wolfgang Landgraeber succeeds in showing the connection between domestic arms production and global war without a moralising tone. The questions he asks are uncomfortable and the answers are not easy.
