43rd International Leipzig Festival for Documentary and Animated Film

The puppet animation film tells the story of a wigmaker in London in 1665, the year of the plague, in a superbly crafted way based on a text by Daniel Defoe. The development of a human being from a fearful observer to an actor who accepts life and thus death is convincingly portrayed.

With tenacity and courage, the director explores the situation of those affected by the war in Lebanon in an exemplary way. She conveys the injury to body and soul of the people and shows the enormous difficulties in achieving peace when feelings of guilt are repressed and images of the enemy are passed on.
