A French film is winner of the Golden Palm in Cannes 2015: "Dheepan" by Jacques Audiard, telling a story about refugees from the civil war in Sri Lanka. The Grand Prix was awarded to the Hungarian entry "Saul Fia", directed by László Nemes. The Ecumenical Jury choose "Mia madre" by Nanni Moretti as winner of its prize, and awarded two commendations in addition. One of the award winners was announced already before the beginning of the festival: French director Agnès Varda, an icon of the Nouvelle Vagues, got a Palme d'or as honorary award.
