12th Golden Apricot International Film Festival Yerevan
Namus (Hamo Beknazaryan, 1925)
The Ecumenical Jury in Yerevan 2015 awarded its Prize to "Moskvich, My Love", directed by Aram Shahbazyan. The Armenian-French-russian co-production won also the Prize of the FIPRESCI Jury. In addition, the Ecumenical Jury awarded a Commendation to "Sivas", directed by Kaan Müjdeci. The Turkish-German coproduction had its premiere in Venice 2014. Winner of the Golden Apricot in the international feature film competition is "Embrace of the Serpent" by Ciro Guerra from Colombia, the Silver Apricot was carried off by the South-Korean "End of Winter" by director Kim Dae-hwan.
The festival dedicated two extensive programmes to the memory of the Armenian genocide 100 years ago. "We Exist" showed films about the Armenian genocide itself, whereas "Never Again" focused on other examples of a holocaust. As closing film the festival choose the first Armenian feature from 1925, "Namus" by director Hamo Beknazaryan.
