33rd Karlovy Vary International Film Festival

The jury awards its Prize to "Comedian Harmonists" for its sensitive handling of human beings in an impossible situation; for its exploration of the values of loyalty, courage and forgiveness; and for its integrity in dealing with real people and real events.

The jury awards the film for its powerful portrayal of a man striving to maintain his humanity in a world where human evil restricts free choice and for its understanding of the complexity of human justice and the responsibility of both individuals and society.
