Kaj is a proud man. A former chef now living in a low-income housing scheme, he has frittered away his life. He has problems fitting in to his retraining programme for the long-term unemployed. A bench in Copenhagen has become the focus of his life. This is where he meets his friends and drinks. He hasn’t heard from his daughter Liv for 19 years and she doesn’t even know what he looks like now. When she moves in to the house across the road with her six-year-old son Jonas, Kaj is disgruntled. Without knowing who he really is, Liv asks her father to look after Jonas. Kaj takes on the responsibility and suddenly finds he has a family once more. The bench gradually loses its importance. (Festival information)
