A special unit of the Russian army on board a steam train in Chechnya. But the steam isn’t used to drive the train; instead three of the five carriages are laundries, while the other two are bathhouses.Filthy, blood-spattered soldiers do their washing here and also give themselves a good scrub before travelling back to the ravaged city. Yet they also attempt to clean their souls here: with laughter and curses, with boasting, lies, and by remembering their mothers.... (Festival information)
