Martin Bengtsson has reached his goal. At just 17, the young Swedish player gets a contract with Inter Milan. He spent years working hard for this. But the reality of a young professional’s life turns out to be nothing like his dream. Management breaks its promise of giving him a single room in the residence. The trainer speaks nothing but Italian; his fellow footballers bully him, eager to see him fail. The only ray of light is the American goalie, Ryan, who befriends him and initiates him into the tricks of professional football life – until the club one day suddenly sells him on. When management forbids him from contact with Vibeke, a model with whom he’s having a relationship, it’s the last straw that sends him into a deep depression.
