Gulep is always carrying a shovel. Day in, day out, he and his comrades linger in front of the hospital in Djibouti, waiting for the next corpse that they can bury for a little cash. Gulep lives with his wife Nasra and their adolescent son in a corrugated metal shack on the outskirts of the city. Nasra suffers from chronic kidney disease and Gulep must drum up 5,000 American dollars for her operation, otherwise she’ll die (...) The couple’s love for each other is the focus of Finnish-Somali director Khadar Ayderus Ahmed’s story.
