The Bulgarian film critic and journalist Prof. Dr. Bojidar Manov is Dean of the Cinema Faculty at the National Academy for Theatre and Film Arts (Sofia), member of the National Film Board, member of the European Film Academy and Honorary citizen of Sofia. He is also known as author of “Theory of the Cinema Image” (1996), “The Digital Element” (2003), “Cinema and Other Temptations” (2008), “Evolution of the Screen Image” (2004, 2012) and other publications. 2001-2005 he was Vice-President of FIPRESCI, the International Association of Film Critics.

66 editions of a major international festival of non-fiction films (documentaries and animations) is in itself a sign of significant attention. Leipzig has long established and defended its name as an important centre for world cinema of the two types mentioned, and this holds true especially strongly for the documentary production.

Current issues

At the Oulu's Children's and Youth International Film Festival 2024 the Church Media Foundation presented its "Look at Me..." Award to Nellie Rajala for her film "The Elf Ring".
Sascha Keilholz, director of the International Film Festival Mannheim-Heidelberg, in his greetings at the Ecumenical Reception reflects the actual political challenges after the US elections and the threats to democracy.
