The Karlovy Vary International Film Festival (Mezinárodní filmový festival Karlovy Vary), founded in 1946, is one of the oldest film festivals in the world. Between 1959 and 1993 the festival alternated with the Moscow International Film Festival. In 1994, it took a new start with festival director Jiří Bartoška and (since 1995) program director Eva Zaoralová, 2011 followed by Karel Och. The festival hosts an ecumenical jury since 1994.
