"Keeper", a film by Belgian director Guillaume Senez, won the Prize of the Ecumenical Jury in the section of full-length films in Kyiv's "Molodist" film festival 2016. It was also awarded by the International Jury. Also in the short film section both juries decided for the same winner: "Ascensão" (Ascension) by Pedro Peralta from Portugal. For the first time, the Ecumenical Jury awarded a prize to a film from the student films competition. The prize went to the film "Esel" (Carry On) by Rafael Haider from Austria.
The Grand Prix of the festival was awarded to "Ostatnia rodzina" (The Last Family), directed by Jan P. Matuszyński (Poland).
"Une vie" by Stéphane Brizé, a story about a woman's life based on a novel by Guy de Maupassant, was the opening film of the 46th Molodist International Film Festival. It had 250 programme entries in six competition sections and a number of special programmes, among them a selection of Hungarian films dedicated to the memory of the 1956 uprising. The Ecumenical Jury chose its winners from the competition for first full feaure films, the competition for first professional short films and the competition for student films. For the closing film festival director Andrij Khalpakhchi selected the last film by Andrzej Wajda who died recently at the age of 90: "Powiki" (Afterimage), about the Polish avantgarde painter and theorist Władysław Strzemiński and his fight against Stalinist art doctrine.
