A graduate of the École Nationale Supérieure Louis-Lumière, Pierre-Alain Lods worked in the film industry for fifteen years as a cameraman. He has directed short films (13 awards / 39 selections), a documentary for Canal + and institutional films. At the same time, he has written scripts for feature films and is currently seeking funding to produce a series.

There are some well-travelled cineastes and regular festival-goers who call Bologna their favourite festival. The atmosphere is relaxed and democratic, there is no VIP area, no stars who have to be shielded from the common people. The participants come from 70 countries, as is proudly noted.
