Your Beauty is Worth Nothing is about the assimilation process of a Turkish-Kurd refugee family in Austria. The twelve year old son, Veysel tries to break out of his speechlessness by translating a Turkish poem of Asik Veysel, the most fames poet of the 20th century, which may help him to find the way to his beloved Ana and also gain the respect of the community.
Next to the simplicity of editing and the artistic level, the film makes a good balance between the restrained, simple story and the high level of its poetical expression. It shows us the ordinary life of different kinds of minorities in an artistic way, and helps us to understand the problem-complexity of refugees.
