Josef is a writer aged sixty who thinks that nothing can surprise him any more. Of course life doesn’t take long to prove him wrong. Josef’s much younger girlfriend tells him she’s pregnant. His best friend tries to commit suicide, and the man with hare ears – Josef’s alter ego from one of his stories – appears before him in everyday situations. Wanting to seize his last chance, Josef decides to marry his pregnant girlfriend. But things aren’t that simple. First he has to sort out a lot of unfinished business that he has been putting off. The film shows that the history of a man's decisions has an influence on his personal life and milieu. Thanks to a deep self-perception and attentive listening to others, he is able to give meaning to his life despite his mistakes. The jury highlights the remarkable way in which the film tells us that every human being is capable of developing into a full-fledged human being throughout his or her entire life.
