The 36th Warsaw International Film Festival took place live on location under corona-related restrictions. In the cinemas only 25% of the seats were allocated, the Ecumenical Jury was reduced to 2 members. It awarded its prize to "Muž se zaječíma ušima" (The Man with Hare Ears) by Martin Šulik, who also received the international jury's prize for Best Director. The Warsaw Grand Prix went to "18 Kilohertz" by Farkhat Sharipov from Kazakhstan. The Fipresci jury awarded its prize for the best film debut to the Hungarian contribution "Preparations to Be Together for an Unknown Period of Time" by Lili Horvát, which was shown in the "Discoveries" series.
