Locarno 2005 was particularly important for INTERFILM. The organization, founded in Paris in 1955, celebrated its 50th anniversary there.
The Danish film "Chinaman" by Ruben Genz won the Prize of the Ecumenical Jury in Karlovy Vary 2005. The International Festival Jury awarded the Crystal Globe to "My Nikifor" by Krzysztof Krauze from Poland.
"Yasmin" by Kenny Glenaan won the Ecumenical Jury Prize in Locarno 2004. The Golden Leopard went to "Private" by Saverio Costanzo, who also received a Commendation from the Ecumenical Jury.
The Prize of the Ecumenical Jury at the Karlovy Vary 2004 Film Festival went to Lisa Cholodenko's American production "Cavedweller".The Italian film "Certi bambini" (A Children's Story) by Andrea and Antonio Frazzi won the festival's Grand Prix, the Crystal Globe.
"Diarios de motocicleta" (The Motorcycle Diaries) by Walter Salles and "Moolaadé" by Ousmane Sembène are the award winners of the Ecumenical Jury in Cannes 2004. The Golden Palm went to "Fahrenheit 9/11" by Michael Moore.
In 2004, the festival celebrated its 50th anniversary. In an anniversary program, among others church winners of past festivals were shown.
