"Ljósbrot" (When the Light Breaks), a film by Icelandic director Rúnar Rúnarsson, has won the INTERFILM Church Film Prize in Luebeck 2024, which is endowed with €5,000 by the Lübeck-Lauenburg church district. The festival's main prize, the NDR Film Prize, went to the Danish film "Min evige sommer" (My Eternal Summer) by Sylvia le Fanu, which also received the Baltic Film Prize for a Nordic film. The Audience Award of the Lübecker Nachrichten was presented to "Quiet Life" by Alexandros Avranas, which was already awarded the INTERFILM Prize for the Promotion of Interreligious Dialogue at its world premiere at the Venice Film Festival 2024.
The Nordic Film Days 2024 opened on 6 November with the animated film "Straume" (Flow) by Gints Zilbalodis from Latvia. At the opening ceremony, Finnish actress Kati Outinen, known from the films of Aki Kaurismäki, was presented with the festival's prize of honour.
