12 films form Eastern Europe are screened in the competition of the 27th FilmFestival Cottbus. Among them, the Ecumenical Jury chooses its winner.
On November 1, the 59th Nordic Film Days opened in Luebeck. Since 1996 the INTERFILM Jury awards the Church Film Prize of 5000.- €.
On November 4, the 60th Leipzig Festival for Documentary and Animated Film closed with the award ceremony. The Interreligious Jury, appointed by INTERFILM and SIGNIS, awarded its prize to "Love is Potatoes" by Aliona van der Horst.
The Ecumenical Jury at the 33rd Warsaw Film Festival awarded its Prize to "Beyond Words" by Urszula Antoniak and a Commendation to "The Miner" by Hanna Slak.
An Ecumenical Jury participated in the film festival SCHLINGEL for the 2nd time. It awarded the Brazilian film "Sobre rodas" (On Wheels), directed by Mauro D'Addio.
"Aritmija" by Boris Khlebnikov won the Prize of the Ecumenical Jury at Miskolc 2017.
The INTERFILM Jury of the 74th Mostra internazionale d'arte cinematografica in Venice has chosen as winner of the 7th INTERFILM Award for Promoting Interreligious Dialogue "Oblivion Verses" by Alirezah Khatami.
At the 70th Festival Locarno the awards have been decided. The Ecumenical Jury awarded its Prize to the American competition entry "Lucky" by John Carroll Lynch.
"The Cakemaker", directed by Ofir Raul Graizer, won the Prize of the Ecumenical Jury in Karlovy Vary 2017. The Krystal Globe was awarded to the Czech competition entry "Little Crusader", directed by Vaclav Kádrnka.
Two Indian films have been awarded by the Ecumenical Jury Zlín 2017. The winner of its prize is "Half Ticket" by Samit Kakkad. For a commendation the jury choose "Railway Children" by Prithvi Konanur.
"Hikari" by Japanese director Naomi Kawase won the Prize of the Ecumenical Jury. The Golden Palm was awarded to "The Square" by Ruben Östlund from Sweden.
The festival screened altogether 499 films from 58 countries. 56 films were running in the international competition from which the ecumenical jury chose its award winner.
For the 13th time an interreligious jury awarded prizes at the festival Visions du Réel in Nyon. The jury, composed of a Catholic, Protestant, Jewish and Muslim member, took its choices among the 19 films of the international competition for long films.
"This should be the primary purpose of any self-respecting festival: to never indulge certainties. Quite the opposite: it should question and destabilise them and, if possible, take them on unexpected new journeys." Thus Thierry Jobin, artistic director of the Festival International de Films de Fribourg, characterizes the guiding idea of the event.
Ildikó Enyedi's "On Body and Soul" is the winner of the Berlinale 2017. The film not only carried off the Golden Bear but also the Prize of the Ecumenical Jury.

"Abulele" by Jonathan Geva, a film from Israel, has won the Prize of the Ecumenical Jury in Zlín 2016. The jury awarded in addition a Commendation to "La vie en grand", directed by Mathieu Valepied, France.
"It's Just the End of the World" by Xavier Dolan is the winner of the Ecumenical Jury Prize in Cannes 2016. Two other competition films got a Commendation by the jury, "American Honey" by Andrea Arnold and "I, Daniel Blake" by Ken Loach.
