This case study of an Iranian emigrant depicts the trauma of dislodged human experience, searching its identity between old home and new home. The island off the coast of Iran and communication by cell phone are both metaphors for the torn protagonist’s inner conflict.
Founded in 1952 in Mannheim as „Culture and Documentary Film Week“ and becoming the „International Film Wekk Mannheim in 1961, the International Film Festival Mannheim-Heidelberg got its current shape in 1994. Since 1963 Evangelical and Catholic juries award their prizes, being united to an Ecumenical Jury in 1995.
