Tiago Ignacio Branchini was born in Brazil (*1985) in a Methodist family, where music was his first contact with the world of art. At sixteen years, he started a group of punk-rock becoming one of the most representative bands of their region within three years . Writing poetry and composing songs he discovered the power of the moving image and choose to study cinema. He graduated with a short film and afterwards moved to Italy, where he made two short fiction and a short documentary film. After living in Milan for three years he moved to Rome, where he started the project Sol@zione making seven video interviews with people who are committed to a common good. The year after, he started his cinema Masters at the University La Sapienza of Rome, currently finishing a short film as director and screenwriter. He is active in the Protestant youth organisation in Italy and member of the Protestant Cinema Association “Roberto Sbaffi”.

Comment by Peter Paul Huth on the decisions of the international festival jury
Towards the end of the Berlinale, it becomes clear what criteria had to be met for a film to be invited to the Competition. Either it had to be directed by a female director or the protagonist had to be female, says Peter Paul Huth in his Berlinale report on competition films from four countries.
