Lars Obel (*1971) is the leading pastor of the largest Danish congregation in the National Church of Denmark. Lars is deputy chairman of the national “Church and Film Association”. Lars is also in the board of a Danish experimental group “Reach out”, which tries to find new ways for the church to connect to the young people and children of Copenhagen. Lars has been working with the Film media as a way to discuss religion, existentialism, faith and church for more than 20 Years. Lars has been working with literature, music, art and film as trajectories of the biblical message. Lars acted as co-instructor and co-author of the 2002 short film:  “Cookerfilm” produced by the Danish Filmworkshop.

Towards the end of the Berlinale, it becomes clear what criteria had to be met for a film to be invited to the Competition. Either it had to be directed by a female director or the protagonist had to be female, says Peter Paul Huth in his Berlinale report on competition films from four countries.
