International Film Festival Venice - Mostra Internazionale d'Arte Cinematografica
Founded in 1932, the Venice Film Festival is the oldest film festival in the world and with Cannes and Berlin one of the three most prestigious. It is part of the Biennale, existing since 1895, which is dedicated to contemporary art. Since 1949 the Golden Lion (Leone d'Oro) for the best film is awarded. Also in 1949 for the first time a jury appointed by the Office Catholique International de Cinema (OCIC) awarded a church film prize. Since 2011 an INTERFILM jury awards a prize for promoting interreligious dialogue.
